After narrowly escaping the terrorist attacks on Lesvos, Captain Alexandros Savva and his wife Shayma flee to the far north of Scotland, to Orkney, to recoup and heal in the home of his brother Philip and sister-in-law, Larisa.

In Philip and Larisa Savva's tranquil and picturesque home in Orkney, the family finally finds the will to relax. In this seemingly safe place there's every hope that Alexandros can begin to shed his long-carried burdens and process his harrowing memories from Sappho Square. But will the days spent prowling the rocky coast suck Alexandros deeper into depression?

Shayma and Philip beg Larisa, a dedicated ornithologist and artist, to try to do what they cannot and connect with Alexandros-to bring him out of memories. But Larisa's attention is torn between Alexandros, whose thoughts grow darker by the day, and the plight of three teenage girls, who-to the horror of this caring, spread-thin family-are likely being abused in their own home.

Honour Thy Mother oscillates between terrors that haunt the living and present-day violence. Alexandros Savva, so often praised for his tenacity and humanity, is all to aware that he's run out of both while Larisa Savva struggles to save anyone she can in a world on the brink of cataclysmic change.
